The drama is at least partly behind us. The Braves feel like they’re getting Full Strength Chris Sale for Game 3.
So, what does that mean? Or, more specifically, what does that mean in light of a game after an off day, but also after the Braves went Johnny Much-of-the-Staff in Games 1 and 2 of this series?
Sale went 6 1/3 in his outing against the Phillies. He averaged right around six innings a start over the course of the season. In his two starts against the Dodgers, he went seven and nine. Of course,
the answer is, “He’ll go as long as something resembling prudent,” but I guess my question is, what’s that gonna be? Will it be another six-ish innings, or will the Braves feel compelled, if he’s rolling and stuff is close, to push him further than they otherwise would given the usage of the rest of the pitching roster earlier in this series?
I’ll say that he pitches into the seventh but doesn’t finish it, like his first postseason start. What about you?
