Roundabouts rock. If you don’t think so it’s probably because you don’t know how to use one properly. They are beginning to pop up more and more around the state and you could honestly just get a lawn chair, sit in the middle of one and be entertained for hours.
You typically get four options at a roundabout; each considered an exit. Essentially you exit right, keep going straight, exit right again but this time to go left or a legalized u-turn.
Since roundabouts in Mississippi have become heavily
associated with Oxford, I figured we could have a weekly roundabout here. On our first exit we will look around the SEC. If we keep going straight we will look at the upcoming Rebel games across all sports. The third turn will look at some of the Rebel sports that aren’t currently in season while our u-turn will take a glance at the previous week.
Let’s see how smoothly we can navigate this roundabout.
Exit 1: Around the SEC
No. 7 Alabama at No. 16 Mississippi State: 11 am on ABC. The Bulldog’s toughest test comes at home against the Tide and their highest rated recruit in program history at QB. Is MSU for real or do they come back down to earth?
Vanderbilt at No. 2 Georgia: 11:45 am on SEC Network. Another easy game for the Dawgs.
No 8. Florida at No. 25 Missouri: 2:30 pm on ABC. Can the Gators avoid the same letdown they dished out to the Rebels last week? Can Austin Simmons bounce back from a tough loss in Starkville?
Auburn at No. 17 Tennessee: 2:30 pm on ESPN. Both teams already have a conference loss. The loser is on life support five weeks into the season.
No. 24 Kentucky at South Carolina: 3:15 pm SEC Network. Somehow the Gamecocks are favored, but a loss could spell the end for Beamer Ball in Columbia. The Wildcats look to keep their resurgence alive.
Arkansas at Texas A&M: 6:00pm ESPN2. Has to be a get right game for Elko and the Aggies. A potential blowout looming in College Station.
McNeese at No. 11 LSU: 6:45 pm SEC Network. Somehow another night game for the Tigers. Could be a rest Sam Leavitt game.
Exit 2: Upcoming Games
Friday October 2
Volleyball hosts Missouri, 6:00pm on SEC Network+
Women’s Soccer at No. 5 Alabama, 7:00pm on SEC Network+
Sunday October 4
Volleyball hosts Vanderbilt, 2:00pm on SEC Network+
Exit 3: Basketball Preview
One Man to Beat, our fearless leader, previewed the Men’s Basketball Schedule here, in case you missed it earlier this week.
6-5 guard Ben Henshall was cleared by the NCAA and granted an additional year this week. Huge news for Chris Beard, landing the services of the former Australian professional.
Exit 4: A Look Back
I don’t wanna look back. But I do want to say this. The national media is full of morons. Oops…. Trinidad’s Heisman candidacy did not take a hit because our defense couldn’t tackle my five year old last week. He doesn’t play on that side of the ball. He still shredded. He gave hope in the second half. There were a lot of things wrong in that game and Chambliss was not one of them.
