There have been no indications AJ Styles is on WWE’s list of John Cena’s final opponents. In fact, it’s not really clear what the heck is going on between the company and Styles in general these days.
But that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping for and talking about the possibility that we could see Cena and Styles go one-on-one for the fifth time before John puts the jorts away for good in December.
Both these guys have been known as the Face that Ran the Place during their illustrious careers. You don’t
get a nickname like that unless you’re in tune with the audience. Cena and Styles confirmed that they and Wrestling Twitter™ are all on the same page the past 24 hours. But as the two wrestlers and the online fanbase all agreed to use one of Cena’s few remaining dates on a Styles match, they still need their boss’ approval. So the Never Seen 17 tagged WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque in his social media exchange with AJ and the people:
After being squashed by Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza last weekend, Cena currently has five dates left on his WWE schedule before his retirement match on the Dec. 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event from Washington, D.C. Rumors have pointed toward Gunther as a final opponent for Cena, and ruled out a Lesnar rematch.
Is there room to revisit their classic 2016-2017 rivalry that saw Cena win his 16th WWE World title at Royal Rumble? John will be in Perth on Oct. 11 for Crown Jewel, and doesn’t currently have anything lined up…
Whaddaya say, Haitch?
