Jacksonville nearly seized a double-digit regular season win streak. Instead, its 20-13 loss at Mile High exposed glaring weaknesses for the second time in the team’s last three games.
The issues start
up front. In their losses to the Denver Broncos last week and the Buffalo Bills in last season’s Wild Card Round, Jacksonville allowed 3 sacks and 21 QB hits while forcing 1 sack and 12 QB hits, per Sports Info Solutions.
Ben Solak of ESPN details why the Jaguars’ trenches will be a problem come playoff time. “The first teams I distrust in the playoffs are the ones that lose the trench battles. The book isn’t written, but after two weeks, I’m worried the Jaguars fall below that bar.”
But it goes beyond that. In each of the Jaguars’ latest losses, Trevor Lawrence threw an interception and Cam Little missed a field goal. The defense couldn’t get a late stop. The run game was abandoned. Travis Hunter wasn’t a factor. The list goes on.
