Last Year’s Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational Results
Missouri’s track and field team opened last year’s Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational with an acceptable showing across sprints, multis and field events. Alicia Burnett highlighted the meet by breaking the program record in the 200 meters to become the third Tiger ever to race under 24 seconds in the event.
In the field events, the Tigers stacked up personal bests, led by Garik Pozecki, Clayton Kamp and Delilah Pippen in the weight throw. Brooke Sawatzky delivered a solid pentathlon performance, finishing 10th overall with key contributions in the hurdles and shot put. The pole vault group cleared season bests with Anna Vedral and Anna who rounded out a well-balanced opening day for Missouri.
The next day of the meet, Jonathan Seremes led the nation with his triple jump record of 16.94 meters. Alongside him, Ethan Lee delivered the fifth-best mile time in school history to place fourth, while Lasse Funck added a top-10 performance of his own in the 800m. Rahel Broemmel finished second in the 3000m with the sixth-fastest time in the school’s history, followed by the men’s 3000m group that placed four Tigers inside the program’s all-time top 10.

Missouri heads into its next meet on a high note after a top performance at the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia. The Tigers earned multiple event wins in weight throw, highlighted by Sam Innes for the men and Reagan Kimrey on the women’s side. Other wins involved high jumper Marlena Tresnjo and long jumper Brianna Utetch who opened her 2026 season with a victory.
Alongside them, Anna Vedral won the pole vault event for the women with her other teammates right behind her as they claimed the top five spots. Several athletes also posted personal bests and program top-10 marks.
Bob Teel Invitational Canceled
With the Bob Teel Invitational canceled due to the severe weather, there has been no information about when the meet will be rescheduled. At this time, no new date has been announced.
Is the Continuous Home Meet Familiarity to their Advantage?
Competing at home has given the Tigers an early-season boost, with several athletes posting personal bests and winning events in familiar surroundings. Weight throwers such as Sam Innes and Reagan Kimrey have set program records, while jumpers and pole vaulters such as Anna Vedral and Marlena Tresnjo have topped their respective fields, showing the team’s depth across events.
The comfort of competing on their home track has given Missouri momentum, providing the Tigers with a strong foundation as they continue through the indoor season.
Upcoming Meet Expectations
The Tigers will compete in their first two-day invitational of the season, scheduled from Friday to Saturday. With that being said, the athletes will continue working toward consistent practice and ongoing skill improvement.
“A competition is an opportunity, a practice is an opportunity, a weightlifting session is an opportunity, and tak[e] each opportunity seriously. I tell athletes, tomorrow is not promised, it’s not guaranteed, so be the best version of yourself and continue to work towards being a better version of yourself as you get opportunities,” assistant jumps coach TJ Harris said.
What’s Next
Aside from the potentially rescheduled Bob Teel Invitational and the upcoming invitational, the Tigers will have just one remaining home meet during the indoor season. They are set to continue competition on the road in Massachusetts and Arkansas before the postseason begins. Following the conclusion of the indoor schedule, the Tigers will shift their focus to the outdoor season, which is set to begin in late March.
