After initial reports surfaced that Penn State switched the focus of its search on Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, things have moved quickly. The Nittany Lions are now set to finalize a deal to make Campbell the next Nittany Lions head coach, after spending the last 10 season leading the Cyclones.
As previously mentioned, Campbell is the winningest
coach in Iowa State history, the only coach with a winning record at Iowa State in the modern era with a tenure of 10 seasons or more, and is coming off a Big 12 Championship game appearance in 2020 and 2024, as well as an 8-win season this year. With the Cyclones, Campbell finished with a winning record in eight of the 10 years he led the team, a first for any coach.
Campbell has shown to be a winner at every stop he’s been, having also taken Toledo to two MAC Championship game appearances in his tenure with the Rockets.
Let’s give a warm welcome to Penn State’s new head coach, Matt Campbell!
