First off, huge congrats to Pete Golding on the massive promotion to head ball coach at Ole Miss. It is a great time to be Pete’s bank account too.
While he was already one of the best paid assistants in the game, he is getting a great pay bump although not to the level his predecessor was being paid. It makes common sense though as the Rebels want to see what Golding can do to earn more money in the future.
Roving reporter Michael Katz got the term sheet and posted it on X on Wednesday along with 10 other staffers including existing coaches. Golding will make $6.8 million in year one with $100,000 increases annually over the five year deal.
Based on 2025 data, Golding would have been the 36th highest paid coach in college football right between Sam Pittman and Hugh Freeze. Previously, the former head coach was being paid $9 million per year plus incentives, so it will be interesting to see how these freed up monies are used to retain staff or pay players.
