Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Basketball
It was reported for a while now but made official on Monday. Mizzou vs SLU basketball has been set for Friday, November 6th at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
SLU joins Marquette (reported, but not official), Pitt, Kansas, Nebraska, and Illinois for a loaded non-conference slate thus far for Mizzou.
It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2001. Per MUTigers.com,
it’s a three-year deal with all three games at the Enterprise Center.
From Gates:
“Rivalries are what make college basketball so special and I couldn’t be more excited for the basketball fans in the state of Missouri, alumni and current students of both institutions to face off with Saint Louis,” said Whitten Family Head Coach Dennis Gates. “Coach Schertz and I recognized that it has been too many years since the last game and we made it a priority from our very first conversation to get this matchup across the finish line. We look forward to Enterprise Center hosting one of college basketball’s most anticipated games during the opening week.”
From Schertz:
“Today’s announcement is not just a win for both basketball programs, but for basketball fans across the city of St. Louis and the state of Missouri as well,” said Saint Louis head coach Josh Schertz. “We know the incredible history of this matchup, and I am glad that Coach Gates agrees that this is the perfect time in both programs’ trajectories to rekindle the series.”
Plus, an interesting note here from Eli Hoff:
Either way, should be a fun one on November 6th. We’re discussing it over at RockM+.

Truth is, folks, we’re at that point in the summer where it’s still a little too early to get football news and a little too late to get college sports news.
What Josh said.
More importantly, I’m looking forward to connecting more with the Rock M Nation community, its readers, and Mizzou fans overall. As mentioned at the top, I did cover this team in the past, while attending the University from 2020 to 2024, but I have a stronger connection than that.
VERY excited that Jaden Lewis is BACK with Rock M Nation!
After three seasons in the Tigers program, Mateo Serna announced Monday evening he decided to enter the transfer portal. Serna was the primary starting catcher for Missouri the past two seasons, making starting 47 and 44 games in the 2025 and 2026 seasons respectively.
Mateo Serna transfers out. Meanwhile, Georgia Southern LHP Carter DeGondea is the latest addition to the program.
