Green Bay Packers fans saw their team bomb out of the playoffs last Saturday, giving up 25 fourth-quarter points to the Chicago Bears in a brutal 31-27 loss. With that result, the Bears advanced to this weekend’s Divisional Playoffs, where they face a Los Angeles Rams team that is, in the eyes of many NFL analysts, the best team in the NFL.
The Rams had to scrape and claw their way to a win in their own Wild Card game, however, scoring a late touchdown to defeat the Carolina Panthers 34-31 on the road.
That game saw those two teams trade scores throughout the fourth quarter, but it was Matthew Stafford’s connection to Colby Parkinson with 38 seconds left that proved to be the difference.
Packers fans would surely love to see an old friend knock the Bears out of the postseason, however. Davante Adams is the #2 option in the Rams’ passing game behind Puka Nacua, and tonight’s game would be a perfect time for Adams to deliver a classic performance. In 17 career games against the Bears (16 with the Packers and one with the Raiders), Adams has totaled 88 catches for 1,081 yards and ten touchdowns — a very solid full season’s worth of numbers.
Adams’ last game against the Bears while wearing green and gold came in December of 2021. In that contest, he roasted Chicago’s secondary with 10 receptions, 121 yards, and two touchdowns. His only better game against Chicago was in late 2016, when he caught 13 balls for 132 and two scores. All told, Adams had four 100-yard games when playing the Bears. If he can do anything like that again tonight, the Rams should be headed to the NFC Championship.
Of course, that game comes after the AFC’s 2-5 matchup, which puts one of the league’s best defenses in the Houston Texans against the potential MVP, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. That should be a fun game to watch as a relatively neutral observer before turning into big-time Rams fans for the final game of the weekend.
