You can’t win them all.
Arizona lost out on a recruiting battle for in-state prospect Cameron Williams, who committed to Duke on Friday. Williams, a 5-star power forward in the class of 2026, chose the Blue
Devils over Arizona and Texas.
The 6-foot-11 Williams is the top rated player out of Arizona in his class and the No. 4 overall recruit in the country.
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd and his staff were quick to offer Williams early this year, and he took an official visit to Tucson in mid-October.
Williams would have been the top high school player to commit to Arizona since Deandre Ayton in the class of 2017.
Arizona could still wind up with a top recruiting class should it land some of its other top targets. Arizona is in the mix for 5-star guards Brandon McCoy (California) and Caleb Holt (Florida).
On Sunday the Wildcats landed a commitment from 4-star wing Cameron Holmes, a top-35 player in the class out of Millennium High School in Goodyear.
