Bayern Munich loanees had a busy week, with a few of them involved in European competitions and multi-match weeks. Peretz picked up his first shutout and league win for his new team, while two other goalkeepers
secured shutouts this week. We also saw two loanee teammates team up to score a goal in Switzerland. See what all the active loanees were up to, plus the status of each loanee’s team going into the last week of the league phases in the Champions League and Europa League.
FC Bayern Munich
There are ten players from on loan from the first team.
Germany – Bundesliga
There are three players on loan to the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Arijon Ibrahimovic, and Armando Sieb.
Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart
Nübel started for Stuttgart away to AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday. He had two saves in the first half and conceded one goal to go down 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, he did not face another shot on goal until he conceded a second goal late in stoppage time to put Stuttgart’s comeback chances away. Their attack could not help Nübel out, and they fell 2-0.
Stuttgart was back in Germany on Sunday, but on the road for the second time this week, when they faced Borussia Monchengladbach. Nübel started the match out with penalty save down and away. He had three total saves, which his teammates matched with three goals. Stuttgart won big away 3-0.
Stuttgart hosts BSC Young Boys in the final match of the Europa League league phase. They are two points out of the top eight, but there is only an outside chance that they get the bye. Stuttgart will host Freiburg in Bundesliga play on Sunday.
Arijon Ibrahimović – 1. FC Heidenheim
Ibrahimović started for Heidenheim at home against RB Leipzig. He had two shots — one on goal and one missed — but did not have a lot more to contribute in the attack. He tried to help on defense with one tackle, two blocks, and seven recoveries. He helped his team hold Leipzig to a single goal in the first 63 minutes when he was subbed off. Leipzig quickly scored two more goals and Heidenheim fell 3-0 at home.
Heidenheim will travel to face BVB Dortmund on Sunday.
Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05
Sieb was not in the matchday squad for Mainz’ 3-1 home win against Wolfsburg.
Mainz will travel to face RB Leipzig on Saturday.
England – Premier League
There are two players on loan to the English Premier League: João Palhinha and Jonah Kusi-Asare.
João Palhinha – Tottenham
Palhinha was left off the matchday squad for Spurs’ Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund with a knock. Tottenham won 2-0 at home against an 11-man Dortmund. He also missed their 2-2 draw on the road.
Spurs will face another German opponent on Wednesday when they travel to face Eintracht Frankfurt. They sit in fifth place currently and would guarantee a bye to the round of 16 with a win. They will return home on Sunday for a league match against Manchester City.
Jonah Kusi-Asare – Fulham
Kusi-Asare was on the bench for Fulham’s 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion but did not make it into the match.
Fulham will be in Manchester Sunday to take on United.
England – Championship
Daniel Peretz is the only player on loan to England’s Championship.
Daniel Peretz – Southampton
Peretz started in goal for Southampton midweek against Sheffield United. He did not face a shot on goal in the first half, but his opponents came after him in the second half with four shots on goal. He saved all four of them and kept his first clean sheet for Southampton. This earned him man of the match and helped his team to a 1-0 win.
Southampton was on the road against Portsmouth and Peretz was back in goal. He was not as busy as he was in the last match — only saving one of two shots on goal that he faced. His teammates were able to produce one goal and they earned a point with a 1-1 draw on the road.
Southampton will be on the road to Stoke City on Saturday.
Spain – La Liga
Bryan Zaragoza is the only player on loan to Spain’s La Liga.
Bryan Zaragoza – Celta Vigo
Zaragoza was on the bench for Celta Vigo’s 2-1 home win in the Europa League, but did not make it off the bench.
He returned to the starting lineup and played the full 90 minutes in a league match at Real Sociedad. He had four shots — two on goal and two blocked — and created a chance for his teammates to shoot. He also received a yellow card for a bad foul right before half time. Despite playing the full second half with a man advantage Celta Vigo fell 3-1 on the road.
Celta Vigo will be in Serbia on Thursday to face FK Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League. They sit comfortably in the middle of the table, but like Stuttgart have an outside chance to earn a bye. They will return to Spain with an away league match to Getafe.
Switzerland – Super League
Lovro Zvonarek is the only player on loan from the first team to the Swiss Super League.
Lovro Zvonarek – Grasshopper
Zvonarek started for Grasshopper on the road against Lausanne and played the full 90 minutes. He had two shots — one on goal and one blocked — and created a chance for a teammate to shoot. This chance created ended up as an assist to his fellow loanee, Jonathan Asp. The 75th minute goal went down as the equalizer in a 1-1 road draw.
Grasshopper will host Lugano on Saturday.
Germany – 2. Bundesliga
There are two players from the first team on loan to the 2. Bundesliga: Maurice Krattenmacher and Tarek Buchman.
Maurice Krattenmacher – Hertha BSC
Krattenmacher picked up a thigh injury last week in the match against Schalke. It is estimated that he will be out until mid-February.
Hertha drew 2-2 on the road on Saturday against Karlsruher SC. They will host SV Darmstadt on Sunday.
Tarek Buchman – 1. FC Nürnberg
Buchman remains out with his injury, but no approximate return date is listed.
Nürnberg fell 2-0 on the road to SV Darmstadt. They will host Preussen Münster on Friday.
FC Bayern Munich II
There are ten players on loan from the second team.
Germany – 2. Bundesliga
There are two players on loan from the second team in the 2. Bundesliga: Noel Aseko and Paul Scholl.
Noel Aseko – Hannover 96
Aseko started for Hannover 96 at home against Fortuna Düsseldorf. He did not have a shot attempt nor did he create a chance for his teammates to shoot. He had an interesting five minutes towards the end of his shift. He was fouled inside the box to draw a penalty and a second yellow card for his opponent. His teammate, however, missed the penalty and then Aseko was subbed off. Despite the missed penalty. Hannover won 2-1.
Hannover will be on the road against Magdeburg on Saturday.
Paul Scholl – Karlsruher SC
KSC hosted Hertha BSC — a team they share a close fan friendship with. Scholl started and played the full 90 minutes at centerback. He had the least amount of touches (30) for anyone from either team that played the full match. Despite this, he completed 96% of his passes and created one chance for his teammates to shoot. He also recorded three clearances, an interception, and two recoveries. The back and forth match ended in a 2-2 draw at home.
Karlsruhe will host Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday.
Germany – 3. Liga
Max Schmitt is the only player on loan in the 3. Liga.
Max Schmitt – SSV Ulm 1846
Schmitt made his second start for Ulm in as many matches. They were on the road against Erzgebirge Aue on Saturday. He faced three shots on goal and saved all of them. His teammates scored three second-half goals and won 3-0 away.
Ulm will host MSV Duisburg on Sunday.
Germany – Regionalliga
There are two players on loan in the Regionalliga Südwest: Benedikt Wimmer and David Emmanuel.
The Regionalliga Südwest will return February 21.

Johnathan Asp Jensen is the only player from the second league on loan to the Swiss Super League.
Johnathan Asp Jensen – Grasshopper
Asp started for Grasshopper on the road against Lausanne. He had two shots — both on goal — the first of which ended up as Grasshopper’s lone goal and the equalizer. The shot came from the corner of the box and went to the far post and was assisted by his fellow loanee, Zvonarek. His second shot came in the 90th minute and could have been the winner. He was subbed off in stoppage time and the match ended 1-1.
Grasshopper will host Lugano on Saturday.
Austria – Bundesliga
Maximilian Hennig is the only player on loan to the Austrian Bundesliga.
Maximillian Hennig – TSV Hartberg
Hartberg will return on February 7.
Austria – 2. Liga
Mudaser Sedat is the only person on loan to Austria’s second league.
Mudaser Sedat – Amstetten
Amstetten returns on February 22.
