Depends on who you talk to, when Evan Brown was a starting guard with the Arizona Cardinals, he was either really good at his job, or he was horrible at what he did.
The front office might have given Brown a final statement when they released him late this
week. And now, he wasn’t unemployed for very long as the Houston Texans signed him to a one-year prove-it deal worth $3.5 million.

Brown was with the Cardinals the past two seasons and played in 28 games. He came to Arizona in 2024 and started all 17 games at left guard. In March, he was given a two-year extension worth $11.5 million, but the Cardinals cut him loose with a year remaining after poor play. He started 11 games this past season.
His Pro Football Focus grade was a very poor 54.3 for the 2025 season. He was more than adequate with pass protection, but was horrible in run blocking, mainly because he could not remain engaged with defenders. He only allowed one sack all year, had four penalties, but allowed 34 pressures from the interior of the line. At season’s end, Arizona’s offensive line ranked #26.
Brown dealt with concussion issues and inconsistent performance. He missed the final five games due to “personal matters” that were never divulged or reported. He also played center, which helped with versatility, but he has shown to be more of short time solution rather than a long-term answer. He has played seven years in the league for seven NFL clubs.
His release saved Arizona $4.91 million against the salary cap.
