Maryland women’s basketball lost a main source of its energy from the 2025-26 season on Friday. Redshirt junior Isi Ozzy-Momodu plans to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Talia Goodman first reported.
For most of the season, Ozzy-Momodu was Maryland’s starting big, logging 21 starts in that role.
She was a force inside who benefited from second-chance points and strong rebounding.
Last season, she averaged 8.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and one block per game. For the majority of the 2025-26 campaign, she was a steady force that was always in contention for a double-double.
That changed on Feb. 15, when she suffered a lower-leg injury in the first quarter against Ohio State. She only missed two games but didn’t have the same impact upon her return. She lost her starting role to Mir McLean and was a relative non-factor in the NCAA Tournament.
Ozzy-Momodu logged just three minutes in the NCAA Tournament second round against North Carolina — the final game of her Maryland career.
The London native was a leader in the locker room who brought an added sense of energy to this year’s team. It was her second season with the program, but she redshirted last season due to an ACL tear.
Prior to Maryland, Ozzy-Momodu spent time at Eastern Florida and Gulf Coast State — both junior colleges.
Ozzy-Momodu’s departure is a relatively surprising move — the Terps had already lost forward Breanna Williams to the transfer portal. But four-star recruit Mimi Thiero is coming to Maryland next season and could have a bigger impact than expected, even before any moves head coach Brenda Frese makes in the transfer portal.
