Three big players have recently announced they will leave their clubs as free agents.
Defender Kaleigh Kurtz will part ways with the NC Courage as a free agent. She has played eight seasons with the Courage since
signing in 2018, and has been an integral part of the team.
During her years with the Courage, Kurtz won three NWSL Shields, two championships, and two challenge cups. She also had four iron woman seasons, playing every minute and breaking the league record for most consecutive minutes played.
“You are the team that made me a true professional, developed me into the player I am today, and introduced me to some of the most amazing women,” said Kurtz. “The last eight years are forever stamped on my heart, and I’m proud to have called North Carolina my home!”
Goalkeeper Casey Murphy will also depart the Courage in free agency. In her 108 games with the club, she made 348 saves and kept 36 clean sheets.
Jeff Kassouf reported for ESPN that Murphy will join the expansion team Boston Legacy, according to sources.
Defender Hailie Mace will also leave the Kansas City Current. Mace has played with the Current since 2021.
“Kansas City, and the people who make it so special, have meant the world to me,” wrote Mace on Instagram. “I may not have all the words, but I leave here knowing I poured everything I had into this city and this team.”
