The Tigers entered Monday with 16 commits in their 2026 recruiting class. That number’s up to 18 as Eli Drinkwitz secured back-to-back flip commitments from three star safety Carter Stewart and three star cornerback Brody Jones.
Both commitments were announced by Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Monday afternoon. First, Stewart’s flip from Utah was announced, then Jones followed it up with his flip from Cincinnati.
The 6-3 corner, a Fayetteville, Arkansas product, committed to Cincinnati on June 15th after going on an official visit. Since then, Jones has picked up offers from Wisconsin, Houston and other schools. Stewart was offered by Mizzou a while back, and his been under the radar since.
He never stopped going on visits, and was in Columbia for the Tigers’ matchup against Alabama.
Stewart joins 17 other Tigers as Mizzou’s 2026 recruiting class is starting to turn around. The Tigers’ class was ranked outside of the top 80 in 247Sport’s team rankings and is now ranked 33rd with the new additions. He’s the first cornerback to commit to the class, but joins safeties Tony Forney and Carter Stewart as the three defensive back commits.

Jones is a force to be reckoned with. Playing on both sides of the ball, Jones has great hands and good hops to give him the ability to catch the ball on either side. The good hands are intriguing for someone who is likely to play defense, and his hard hitting is just another upside. It seems like every game Jones makes a big play and that’s exactly what Drinkwitz is looking for. This is a good pickup, especially with a somewhat-struggling secondary this season.
