The so-called dirt sheets have had us primed for Chris Jericho’s WWE return since late last year. Anticipation has risen ahead of big events like Raw’s one-year anniversary on Netflix, Royal Rumble a few weeks later, and last month’s Elimination Chamber. Some have even been convinced they’ve seen signs WWE is teasing the start of Jericho’s fifth run with the company.
But it’s been all quiet on that front from a rumor standpoint for several weeks. Now Sean Ross Sapp posted a Fightful Select report
that says Jericho was never discussed for any of the shows mentioned in our opening paragraph, while “at the very least, Jericho and AEW have been discussing a return in the last couple of months.”
Sapp reminds us that Jericho recently filing to trademark “The Cornerstone” while reporting that his AEW sources “have a growing belief that he will return to the company, especially with the nature of the trademark making more sense there.”
It’s possible Jericho’s first AEW appearance since last April could happen very soon. Sapp writes, ”there has been a lot of chatter internally about Jericho possibly returning tonight [April 1].”
AEW is in Winnipeg for a live Dynamite and to tape tomorrow night’s Collision. As The Cornerstone has been telling us since before AEW existed…
Will Jericho be a part of fellow Manitoban Kenny Omega’s AEW Men’s World title contract signing with his old Inner Circle pal Maxwell Jacob Friedman? Are you disappointed Jericho isn’t WWE-bound sooner, since it seems he’ll have to work off his AEW contract before that’s possible?
If he ever does, per what another scoopster’s hearing…
Stay tuned.
