Hector Fort is set to reunite with his Barcelona team-mates on Sunday when Elche take on Hansi Flick’s side in La Liga.
The defender moved to Elche on a season-long loan in the summer and has made three
appearances for the club.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match, he’s been asked about the current situation at Barcelona – in particular the talk about Lamine Yamal – but has called for calm and expects the Catalans to get back on track.
“Lamine is fine, he is perfectly aware of everything he generates and Barça can be calm,” he told Sport.
“I will be happy to see friends again. And besides, I’d be thrilled to have to stop Lamine. He’s my friend and it’s possible that in some of the duels he will even lose!
“Last year we won a lot of things and this season it’s difficult to maintain the same level. I know that Barça are working well, the team will overcome this small bad streak and recover its best level.”
Fort also spoke about how he’s aiming to develop during his loan spell with Elche.
“I’m only 19 years old and have a lot of room for improvement,” he added.
“I’m working to progress defensively, be more aggressive and positional. I owe Xavi everything for making me debut and having his trust.
“We spoke with Flick, as with all coaches, but he was still looking for other things that other players gave him.”
