ABOUT THE GAME
- Returning home for the first time in conference play, TCU is set to host No. 9 BYU on Saturday night at The Carter.
- TCU is looking to avoid starting 0-2 in Big 12 play for the first time since 2013.
- The matchup will mark the first time a top-10 team has visited Fort Worth since 2023, when seventh-ranked Texas defeated TCU, 29-26. The Frogs last beat a top-10 team in 2022 against No. 2 Michigan, and the last home victory was against No. 8 Oklahoma State that same season.
- TCU is 3-1 against ranked opponents at home under head coach Sonny Dykes and 8-5 overall. The Frogs have also won two straight against ranked teams, closing the season last year with victories over No. 24 Houston and No. 16 USC.
- All-time, the Horned Frogs lead the series with the Cougars 7-6.
- TCU has won four of its last six home games against top-10 teams dating back to 2014.
- Through four games, the Frogs have allowed just 12.5 points per game, the second fewest in the conference and it ranks 14th nationally.
- Jordan Dwyer has posted 10 career 100-yard receiving games, the fourth most among active FBS players.
BYU NOTES
- BYU and TCU are meeting for the 14th time overall, with the Cougars trailing 6-7 in the series. BYU and TCU have been conference foes before in other leagues prior to reuniting in the Big 12. The two teams have played 10 games as league opponents (5-5). Before 2023’s reunion in the Big 12, the Cougars and Horned Frogs spent time in both the Western Athletic Conference and the Mountain West Conference together, matching up twice in the WAC (1996, 97) and six times in the MW (05-10). Last year, BYU beat TCU 44-13 in one of the Cougars’ most complete victories of the 2025 season
- BYU is 6-0 against TCU when allowing under 30 points and 0-7 when allowing over 30 points. Last year’s 44-13 win over TCU snapped a five-game losing stretch to TCU and was BYU’s largest margin of victory over the Horned Frogs.
- TCU head coach Sonny Dykes is familiar with BYU’s football program. Before the previous Big 12 matchups, Dykes was the head coach at Cal when BYU quarterback Christian Stewart out-dueled Jared Goff (Detroit Lions) in 2014’s 42-35 win. Dykes was also the OC and QB coach at Arizona when the two schools played in 2007 (BYU W 20-7) and 2008 (Arizona W 31-21). In addition, Dykes’ father, Spike, head coach at Texas Tech, was a good friend of LaVell Edwards, that ran similar passing offenses
