Barcelona have been invited to take on River Plate in a friendly in Argentina as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The Catalans have already confirmed they will start pre-season on July 13th and will head to England for a camp at St. George’s Park from July 27 to August 3.
Barca are expected to play two friendlies during their stay in England and could then jet out to Argentina for another game.
According to ESPN, River Plate have offered to play a friendly at the Estadio
Monumental on either August 7th or August 8th.
Barcelona are likely to start pre-season without many of their first-team stars due to their involvement at World Cup 2026.
The World Cup final is scheduled for July 19th, six days after the start of Barca’s pre-season and players will need time off after their international duties are over.
Barca’s players are then likely to return at different times, depending on how far they progress at the tournament this summer.
