What is the story about?
Although there’s certainly nothing official, Duke Coach Jon Scheyer now says that he is “hopeful” that center Patrick Ngongba can play Saturday.
They’re going to have him practice Friday afternoon, and if he can handle that, he should play Saturday.
Obviously there’s a lot to deal with between now and then, and the trainers and medical staff will be busy, but it’s still encouraging.
Having him back, even at less than 100%, would help Duke a lot. At this point, if they just got defense and rebounding,
that’d be a huge asset. So would the five extra fouls he would bring. The margin of error for the Blue Devils has been really thin and will get thinner as the competition grows stiffer.
