The Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a trade that sends Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys, per Tom Pelissero. The compensation is unknown at this time.
Porter did not participate in training camp and was put on the PUP list with a back issue cited as the reason, However, it was clear that the lack of long-term extension was also a big reason as to why he wasn’t on the field. He returned to practice ahead of Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, but did not take the field in any of Pittsburgh’s
first three games. He was ruled out for Thursday’s contest against the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.
Porter was a second-round pick of the Steelers in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has three career interceptions in three seasons. He now joins fellow former Steeler George Pickens in Dallas.
