It was ideal conditions at Monday’s Boston Marathon and two former Syracuse runners continue on their path towards the 2028 Olympic Trials.
Amanda Vestri and Paige Wood had All-American careers in Syracuse and now both have moved from the track to the roads. On Monday, Vestri finished in 15th place in a time of 2:24:49 while Wood was 17th in 2:26:34. The women’s race was won by Sharon Lokedi in 2:18:51.
Both former Orange ran fast enough to hit the 2028 US Olympic Trials qualifying time and both set
new personal best times in the event. Vestri was running just her 2nd marathon as she moves up from a focus on the 10k. Wood is returning to the pro circuit this year after having a child.
As we move towards the 28 Trials, we’ll keep an eye on these and other former Orange as they look to earn a trip to Los Angeles to compete.
