Three Rutgers men’s Lacrosse players were voted to all-American honors by the media voting conducted by Inside Lacrosse. Joe Juengerkes was named a Third Team All-American, while Ryan Splaine and Colin Kurdyla were named Honorable Mentions.
College Lacrosse has three recognized all-American lists that are released after the season. This is the second time this off-season that Rutgers has had three players get their names called, with the last list by the USILA Coaches yet to be revealed. Juengerkes
was previously recognized as a Second Team All-American by USA Lacrosse.
After transferring to Rutgers from Princeton, Juengerkes earned team captain status for the second year in a row in his final season and was named an all-Big Ten first team selection. He had 44 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers, and seven points while playing a major role in anchoring Rutgers’ top 10 scoring defense. He joined the PLL’s Maryland Whipsnakes for his pro lacrosse debut this weekend.
Kurdyla was named second team all-Big Ten this season while being the Knights’ primary option on offense, scoring a team high 30 goals, 27 assists, and 57 points, along with registering eight multi-goal games. On top of that, he led the Big Ten in points per game with 3.8, and assists per game with 1.8
Splaine provided even more senior leadership to last year’s squad as a midfielder, having 41 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. He earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the week earlier this year after locking down Johns Hopkins’ All-American and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Matt Collison in Rutgers’ double overtime ranked win.
