Lennart Karl is a left-footed, right-sided player who loves to dribble, maneuver in tight spaces and has a great eye for a pass. It really should not come as a surprise who his childhood idol is. “Since
my childhood, [Inter Miami footballer] Lionel Messi has definitely been my idol,” the Bayern Munich youngster admitted in a recent interview with the DFB, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, when asked if he had played against his idol yet. “Unfortunately, I haven’t played against him yet [laughs].”
The odds of them playing against each other do seem very slim, considering the former FC Barcelona star and he play on different continents now. But crazier things have happened.
Though Messi might be his idol, he revealed a few months ago that he has a different role model. That role model is a certain Arsenal FC playmaker: “Yes, Martin Ødegaard. He’s also a left-footer, plays in the playmaker position, has good vision and a good shot,” Karl explained, as captured by Bayern’s official website. “He also caught the eye of a big club [Real Madrid] early on and ultimately developed into a world-class player over several loan spells. He’s shown that patience and mentality are just as important as talent.”
