According to a report by LouisianaSports.Net and On3.com, LSU’s starting center Braelin Moore is questionable for #3 LSU’s SEC opener this upcoming Saturday against Florida (6:30 P.M., ABC) because of a high ankle sprain.
Moore exited LSU’s 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech after the first play from scrimmage after getting rolled up on. X-rays on his left leg were negative. Moore came back out of the locker room with his helmet on and tried to snap the ball on the sidelines, but never made it back onto
the field. Eventually Moore changed into sweats and was spotted wearing a walking boot on his left leg.
DJ Chester replaced Moore and will likely do so again this week against Florida. Chester was LSU’s starting center in 2024, and started all 13 games.
If Moore can’t play against Florida, he’ll also very likely be held out of LSU’s week four game against Southeastern. It appears that right now the best case scenario is that Moore returns to the starting lineup when LSU travels to Ole Miss on September 27. That gives LSU 20 days to get Moore right.
We’re also monitoring the health status of sophomore tight end Trey’Dez Green, who left in the second half of last night’s game. While nothing is official yet, reports suggest that Green did not suffer a season-ending injury (possibly a sprained MCL), but he’ll almost certainly miss a few weeks. Maybe Green can also come back for Ole Miss, or maybe he’ll return for the South Carolina game on October 11. LSU has a bye week between the Ole Miss and South Carolina games, so that extra week off might be enough time for Green to heal up.
