A pair of former Missouri Tigers track & field stars, Gabi Jacobs and Karissa Schweizer, participated in the country’s premier track & field event this weekend, the Prefontaine Classic, at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Jacobs, who competed for the Tigers from 2015-18, finished seventh in the discus final with a distance of 193 feet, 4 1/4 inches. Jacobs still holds a place in Mizzou history, with her 191-0 (58.23m) mark topping the record books. She won the 2018 SEC Outdoor Discus championship
and was an All-American in 2017 and 2018, when she placed fifth in the discus.
Schweizer, who competed for the Tigers from 2014-18, competed in the women’s two-mile race, placing sixth with a time of 9:22.79, 2.77 seconds behind the winner (and world leader), Aleshign Baweke of Ethiopia (9:20.02). Schweizer was the third best USA finisher, behind Shelby Houlihan in third place (9:21.42) and Margot Appleton in fifth place (9:22.52).
Perhaps the best women’s athlete to come from the University of Missouri, Schweizer still finds herself etched in the Tiger record books, holding school records in both the indoor and outdoor 5,00om. In her time with the Tigers, she earned an NCAA Cross Country Championship in 2016, two NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 5,000m in 2017 and 2018, and three NCAA Indoor Championships in the 3,000m (2017) and 5,000m (2017-18). That’s SIX NCAA titles if you’re keeping track.
In other news, Mizzou baseball’s transfer portal class has continued to grow in the last few weeks, and per our resident baseball commenter expert, Trripleplay, the Tigers are no. 19 nationally.

Mizzou Athletics Recruiting Catch up: June 21-July 4 by Karen Steger
In this piece I took a look at all of the commitments for Mizzou Athletics in the past few weeks, with links to pieces by Jaden, Sammy, Josh, Dylan, Sophie and Henry. Consider this a one-stop shop to our commitment pieces, which included five 2027 football and baseball commits, one WBB commit, two TFXC commits (and 2 departures), and two softball commits (and one to be named later if she ever posts about it— sigh.
Mizzou Hoops Player Review: Jevon Porter by Sam Snelling
Eliminate his last name and there was reason to be intrigued by the addition.
Porter was a mobile and skilled 6’10 forward. The same type of player Gates has deployed successfully over the years. He was an adept passer, and had shown flashes over the years as a play finisher.
And things started out promising. Porter started the first 10 games of the season as Gates tried to deploy a big lineup with Mark Mitchell, Porter, and Shawn Phillips on the floor at the same time. All Porter really needed to do was defend, rebound, and shoot the ball consistently.
But consistent shooting was often a struggle for Porter, even before he landed (back) in Columbia. And while he had two games of multiple three point makes, he only made 7 in his shortened season and finished with a 25% rate from behind the arc. Hardly enough to be considered a threat.
While Sam hasn’t assigned grades to the 2025-26 team, if he was, Jevon would receive an Incomplete, just as many of the Porter siblings before him. Who’s glad we’re out of the Porter business?
UPDATED Mizzou Baseball Additions Tracker: Future Roster Takes Shape (7/3 update by Sammy Stava)
High Point catchr/designated hitter Seojun Oh led High point with a .351 batting average and was named the Big South Player of the Year. High Point finished first in the Big South regular season but were eliminated in their conference tournament. Per Eli Hoff, other SEC programs were interested and the Tigers won the recruiting battle.
This latest addition might just be the best one as the Tigers welcomed yet. I know our writers are excited and have high hopes for Oh.
Katie Muller commits to Mizzou WBB by Dylan Heinrch
Muller, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard, is considered the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Iowa. While her sister Ellie (a freshman this year) is considered more of an interior presence, Katie is a skilled guard, leading the Iowa 5A class in assists per game and shooting over 35% from the 3-point line.
The West Des Moines native and Missouri Phenom product picked the Tigers over the likes of kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Offensive Fireworks: How Mizzou’s Offense Can Elevate to an Elite Unit by Jaden Lewis
Finishing Drives in the Red Zone
Think back to the most agonizing losses in 2025, or nail-biting finishes. In thinking of games against Auburn (23-17 2OT Win), Vanderbilt (17-10 Loss), and Oklahoma (17-6 Loss). In those three games combined, the Tigers had four possessions where they came away with zero points in the red zone, and another one where they kicked a field goal after the drive stalled at the three yard line.
Missouri’s red zone offense was nowhere near to where it was in 2023 and 2024 in terms of scoring %. The Tigers were a top 10 unit in both 23 and 24. The team slid to a mid-pack ranking in the nation last year.
It’s so good to have Jaden back on staff, and even though this was published Friday, I think it deserved an extra plug.
