Our own Finn (@finn_Madridista) is back with another Drawing Board comic, this time taking aim at the weekend’s biggest refereeing
controversy.
In Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card in the 32nd minute after a challenge on Mikel Oyarzabal. The decision immediately took spotlight and nearly cost Real Madrid the three spoints. It was clear that Huijsen was not the “last man” and that there were still covering defenders behind him, making the red card an overly harsh interpretation of the rules.
Finn captures the confusion — and frustration — of Madridistas with a clever two-panel illustration. In the first panel, a goose calmly questions the decision: “Huijsen wasn’t the last man… why is it a red card?” In the second, the goose repeats the same question, only this time with more urgency as the RFEF runs away from the valid question:
