Newcastle United have announced Lewis Miley has signed a new six-year contract, securing the academy graduate’s future at St James’ Park until 2032 if he’s not sold before.
The 20-year-old midfielder has become one of the club’s most important young players after rising through the academy and establishing himself in Eddie Howe’s first-team squad.
“Newcastle United are delighted to announce that Academy graduate Lewis Miley has signed a new long-term contract with the club,” the Magpies announced.
The new deal rewards Miley after a season in which he made 34 appearances across all four competitions Newcastle were part of, mostly filling in at right-back during an injury-hit stretch at that position.
“The 20-year-old has penned a six-year deal to keep him at St. James’ Park until 2032,” the club said.
Miley has made 80 senior appearances for Newcastle after joining the academy at age seven, which came after he racked up 17 U21 and 32 U18 games played before jumping to the first squad.
“I’m really pleased to sign this new contract and commit my future here,” Miley said. “It’s a dream to be representing Newcastle United, so this is a proud moment for me.
“I’m really grateful to everybody who has played a part in helping me get to where I am today, especially the support of my family and the trust that the club has put in me from such a young age.”
Howe praised both Miley’s development and attitude.
“Lewis fully deserves his new contract as recognition for everything he has achieved over the last few years,” Howe said. “It’s also a reflection of the potential for further growth that we all see in him.”
Sporting director Ross Wilson said the extension had been planned internally.
“This is something we have been working on quietly for a number of months,” Wilson said. “The most exciting aspect is that we believe the best is still to come.”
Miley finished the 2025-26 season with three goals and four assists across his 34 combined apps.
