The Los Angeles Rams swung a trade by sending running back Jarquez Hunter to the Miami Dolphons for a familiar face in Tutu Atwell. The young wide receiver was drafted by the Rams in 2021 in the second round and joined Miami during the 2026 offseason. Before 2026 properly begins, he is back with the Rams as Hunter heads towards his new home.
Atwell spent
five up and down years with the Rams before he headed to Miami. It was Atwell’s fifth year with the Rams that many questioned as the Rams gave him a $10 million, then never really used him. Whether that was due to injury or L.A. moving to more of a 12 personnel than 13 personnel, the Rams were not able to get Atwell going in 2025. Now, he’s expected back for 2026.
For Hunter, he was taken by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He has not been able to beat out Kyren Williams, Blake Corum or Ronnie Rivers for big snaps with the Rams. As it stands, Hunter no longer will be competing for a spot with L.A., but now for a spot in Miami.
With the Rams trading for Atwell, he seems like a sure thing to make the roster, so who will the Rams let go in his place?
For Miami, they’ll see if Hunter can give their RB room a boost.
