The Portland Trail Blazers face the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night at the Moda Center with a chance to punch their ticket to the NBA Cup knockout rounds. And the home team could be getting a key reinforcement
back just in time for the matchup.
Blazers starting guard Shaedon Sharpe has been upgraded to questionable to play against San Antonio, the organization announced Tuesday. The springy fourth-year guard has been dealing with a right calf strain that has kept him out of Portland’s last four games.
Sharpe’s return would be particularly helpful considering Portland’s backcourt has been ravaged by injuries. Five Portland players will be unavailable for Wednesday’s game. They’re all guards — Jrue Holiday (right calf strain), Scoot Henderson (left hamstring tear), Blake Wesley (right foot fracture), Matisse Thybulle (left thumb ligament tear) and Damian Lillard (left Achilles tear). With all these players out recently, the Blazers have been depending on extended minutes from two-way players Caleb Love and Sidy Cissoko.
Outside of the five inactive players and Sharpe, nobody else is listed on Portland’s injury report for Wednesday’s matchup. The Blazers tip off against the Spurs at 7 p.m. Pacific.
