WWE added a couple of notable items to SmackDown tonight (Jan. 2). We learned about them via the official preview on their website.
Next Friday, Drew McIntyre gets his latest shot at Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes. That will be in a Three Stages of Hell match, and McIntyre will tell us the stipulation for each Stage on this week’s SmackDown from Buffalo, New York.
We won’t have to wait to see the next Women’s United States championship match. Chelsea Green will defend the belt against Giulia tonight.
Green won the belt for a second time by beating Giulia for it in November… we’ll see if The Beautiful Madness’s second reign starts in Buffalo.
Tonight’s show marks SmackDown’s return to three hours, and include these already announced matches:
- Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black in an Ambulance match
- IYO SKY, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend
A non-title match between Women’s champ Jade Cargill and Michin had been announced. Michin was pulled from the Holiday Tour this week with a shoulder injury, so the status of that match may be in doubt.
