“Borz” wants a piece of “Poatan.”
Just hours after Alex Pereira reclaimed his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title by knocking out Magomed Ankalaev in just 80 seconds last night (Sat., Oct. 4, 2025) at UFC 320 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights), Khamzat Chimaev decided to stir the pot once again.
The undefeated Middleweight champion congratulated Pereira on his dominant performance — then immediately called him out.
“@AlexPereiraUFC Congrats, now we
need to finish our business,” Chimaev wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The two have had bad blood since UFC 276, when Chimaev called Pereira out after his knockout win over Sean Strickland (watch highlights), prompting “Poatan” to label him a coward. Since then, both men have traded verbal jabs, with Pereira even claiming he offered to fight Chimaev at Light Heavyweight — a challenge “Borz” dismissed as fake news.
Following his UFC 320 victory, Pereira acknowledged Chimaev’s message — but made it clear his eyes are set on a bigger goal.
“Thanks for the congratulations, but all I want is a super fight,” Pereira told reporters at the UFC 320 post-fight press conference (watch here). “I want to fight in the Heavyweight division. All I can say is thank you.”
A fight between Pereira and Chimaev would undoubtedly be a blockbuster, given their elite striking and wrestling styles. Still, it doesn’t make much competitive sense right now, as Chimaev has unfinished business in the Middleweight division, including potential bouts with Nassourdine Imavov or the winner of UFC Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Pereira seems locked in on making history — chasing a move to Heavyweight in hopes of becoming the UFC’s first-ever three-division champion.
