The Utah Jazz announced the signing of Steven Crowl of Wisconsin and Matthew Murrell of Ole Miss.
With NBA Training Camp less than a week away, the Jazz are obviously solidifying their camp roster to prepare for the upcoming season.
From Utah Jazz PR:
Crowl (7-0, 217, Wisconsin) was a five-year player at Wisconsin (2020-25), where he appeared in 153 games (141 starts), with career averages
of 9.7 points on 52.5 percent from the field, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 25.7 minutes per game. His 153 games with the program rank third all-time in Wisconsin history. In his final collegiate season, he posted averages of 9.9 points, 5.3 boards, and 2.4 assists in 37 contests.
Murrell (6-4, 200, Ole Miss) played five seasons for Ole Miss (2020-25), seeing action in 153 games (119 starts) with career averages of 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 29.1 minutes per game. He left the program ranked first in all-time games played and minutes played (4,453), tied fourth in steals (179), fourth in three-point field goals (261), and seventh in points (1,788). During the 2024-25 season, he recorded averages of 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in 32 games played.
It’s interesting that both players played five seasons at their respective colleges. That experience will help them be solid training camp invites and capable of being good competition for the young players on the Jazz. You never know if either player proves to be more than they showed in college, but it’s more likely that these will be camp invites and then possibly play for the Stars at some point.
