The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t going to be a popular Super Bowl pick by many. And according to a recent report, the network that will air Super Bowl LXI hopes Pittsburgh is not playing in the game.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, many within ESPN are hoping the Steelers don’t make the Super Bowl due to Aaron Rodgers’ bad relationship with the network.
This stems from the four-time MVP’s recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show where he called out the network for not discussing the scandal
involving Dianna Russini and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Rodgers also called out Dr. Anthony Fauci in a rant pertaining to the COVID vaccine. Rodgers doesn’t keep his distain for ESPN a secret, saying that he gave the network a list of specific people he would speak to for an interview.
Rodgers infamously had beef with ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, telling Schefter to “lose my number” amid trade rumors back in 2023.
While a Super Bowl berth would send the city of Pittsburgh into pure euphoria, step one is winning a playoff game, something Pittsburgh hasn’t done since the 2016 season – a trend Rodgers and new head coach Mike McCarthy hope to change.
