The Tennessee Vols have put themselves in a spot to make a run at the SEC title game and College Football Playoff despite a crushing 27-24 last second loss to South Carolina last weekend.
But in order for that to happen, Tennessee will very likely need to win out, and there’s a massive opportunity next weekend to do it against No. 9 Kentucky, who comes to Neyland Stadium.
And it’s going to be the “dark mode” jersey game for the Vols against the Wildcats. Tennessee has sported a different look this
year after going back to Adidas starting on July 1, and so there was some curiosity as to what their dark mode uniforms would look like this year.
That reveal happened on Friday morning.
It’s a pretty good and simple look that follows Tennessee’s new base uniform look pretty closely, and that’s something I can appreciate.
No. 3 Tennessee wore the dark mode uniforms in 2022 against the Wildcats, and it was a pretty special night inside Neyland Stadium. The Vols jumped out to a 7-0 on the opening drive and led the rest of the way, blowing the No. 19 Wildcats off the field in a 44-6 thrashing. Tennessee’s defense dominated the Kentucky pass game, with Will Levis throwing for just 98 yards with three interceptions. It was a typical deafening environment inside Neyland, and the dark-mode-clad Vols delivered.
We’ll find out if these Vols can deliver another big win over Kentucky when toe meets leather shortly after 6:15 pm ET in Knoxville.
