The Chicago Bears faced off with the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field on Sunday with a dominant 31-3 victory to improve to 10-4 on the season. The team played complementary football today with all three
phases contributing, and the Bears now have double-digit wins for the first time since 2018.
This was a blowout win for the Bears. Earlier in the season, head coach Ben Johnson said he thought the team would be playing their best football in December, and sure enough, he was right.
Let’s get into Week 15’s Windy City Honors superlative awards.
Most Consistent Performance
Quarterback Caleb Williams’ progress over the course of the season has been up and down, which is to be expected from a young quarterback. However, he had his most consistent game of the season yet. Williams completed 17-of-28 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions and achieved a 112.5 passer rating. Williams was dealing against the best passing defense in the league.
He was accurate, even with a few drops by his receivers, looked decisive, and made some incredible throws, including his second touchdown to wide receiver DJ Moore.
Overall, Williams showed out against a strong defense and put on his most consistent performance of the season. He’s been making great strides and progress as of late.
Player on the Rise
Week after week, tight end Colston Loveland has continued to show why he was picked 10th overall in the 2025 draft. Loveland had a slower start to the season as most of the Bears’ rookies did. However, since he started having a larger role in this offense, he’s been a star. He’s a dual threat as he’s fast like a wide receiver but is also built like a tight end. He’s hard to tackle, is a great blocker, and has great hands.
Loveland recorded 63 yards on 4 receptions and was targeted 5 times. Although he didn’t record a touchdown, he still played a significant role in the Bears’ offensive success. His longest catch was for 24 yards on a key third down.
Loveland has a bright future ahead, and his production will only continue to increase. He truly is a rising star.
Walking Warning Sign
Bears kicker Cairo Santos’ miss on a routine 35-yard field goal raises concerns and rightfully so as this was not his first missed kick this season. Even towards the end of the 2024 season, he missed some critical kicks.
Santos’ weak length strength has been an issue in the past, but a 35-yard field goal should be a layup for current kickers in the NFL. Additionally, the cold temperature can’t be an excuse as the Bears should be used to playing in these temperatures, and they’ll likely be playing in these conditions throughout the rest of the season.
As the Bears continue to make a push towards playoffs, having a reliable kicker is critical — we all saw what happened in the 2018 season when they didn’t.
A couple weeks ago, I mentioned that the Bears were struggling to put together a complete game and play all four quarters. This week, they did just that. It was a great win for the Bears.
Next week, the Bears take on the Packers at home. What’s your confidence level for this team to beat their biggest rival?
