Wee nine saw a shift in power in the race for the Mountain West championship. And with big upsets, we saw some big performances. With that being said, let’s take a look at the top performances from week 10 of the college football season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Walker Eget (San Jose State)
Walker Eget had one of the oddest stat lines I’ve seen. His completion percentage was subpar, completing only 20 of his 40 passing attempts. But he finished the game passing for 458 yards for nearly 23 yards per pass completion. Eget also
added two touchdown passes for a huge Spartan victory over Hawaii.
Defensive Player of the Week
Simeon Harris (Fresno State)
The junior cornerback had one of the best performances of his career in Fresno State’s shocking 30-7 victory Saturday afternoon in Boise. Harris had 6 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss. Harris also had a huge interception in the Bulldog victory.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Hunter Green (San Diego State)
The junior punter was a difference-maker in the Aztecs’ 24-7 win over Wyoming. While the Aztec offense was sputtering, Green was consistently flipping the field and making life difficult for the Cowboy offense. On 7 punts, Green averaged 49.7 yards per punt.
Newcomer of the Week
Danny Scudero (San Jose State)
The sophomore wide receiver has continued to distance himself as the top wide receiver in the Mountain West. Scudero had a spectacular performance Saturday night against Hawaii with 7 receptions for 215 yards in the Spartans’ huge victory.
Freshman of the Week
Micah Alejado (Hawaii)
It may have come in a losing effort, but Micah Alejado was spectacular in Hawaii’s 45-38 loss to San Jose State. The freshman quarterback completed 31 of 46 passes for 367 yards and 3 touchdowns. Alejado has continued to show how spectacular the Rainbow Warrior offense can be under his leadership.
