According to Fabrizio Romano
, Como have followed up their reported interest in Trevoh Chalobah with an “initial official bid”. The size of the bid is not specified, though Chelsea are said to be willing and open to a potential deal. With just two years left on his contract, Chalobah is one of the more moveable pieces of the financial puzzle. And I’m sure it’s not lost on BlueCo that as an Academy product, he’d be “Pure Profit™” on the books.
Chalobah is third among active players in number of games
played for the club, and recently notched his 150th senior appearance, reaching a landmark that very few our very own have had the chance to do in the last couple decades (only Reece James, Mason Mount, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have more). He played a key role last year amid all the injuries at the back, and was among the team leaders in minutes. You’d hope that sort of importance would lead to a new contract rather than a transfer, but here we are.
And just to further underline that this is nothing more than just business and player-trading, Chelsea have been linked with Como center back Jacobo Ramon, with The Athletic (and others) claiming he’s among our main targets for reinforcements at the position (though there was nary a mention of him when Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix was being bandied about just the other day).
Ramon is a product of Real Madrid’s Academy and did work briefly with Xabi Alonso at the start of last season (before moving to Como in cut-rate €2.5m deal that also included a 50 per cent sell-on agreement). The 21-year-old Spain U21 international was ever-present for Cesc Fàbregas’s side.
