According to MLBTR, the A’s and Shea Langeliers are in agreement on a contract for 2026 that will pay the catcher $5.25M and avoid the dreaded arbitration hearing. Langeliers was the last arbitration eligible player on the A’s, who previously have come to agreements with Austin Wynns ($1.1M), Ken Waldichuk ($825M, claimed by the Braves just moments ago from DFA limbo), and Luis Medina ($835K).
The A’s rarely go to arbitration with their players but the path with Langeliers went through agent Scott
Boras, creating some perceived doubt. Langeliers is entering his first arbitration season at age 28, having broken out with a 3.9 fWAR campaign that included a robust .277/.325/.536, 132 wRC+, 31 HR batting line.
Not the addition of a starting pitcher, not a big trade or free agent signing, but another box ticked this off-season. May the Shea Hey kid have a sterling 2026 season.
