Robin Roefs: 10/10
Barely a save to make in normal time, almost got something on the Everton penalty for the equaliser. Then made himself the match winner in the shoot out, saving every penalty.
Trai Hume: 8/10
Had one tired pass in extra
time but was very good today, used the ball well and was very strong defensively, easily robbing Everton attackers multiple times. The penalty decision was given against him but it was a ridiculous call by the referee.
Nordi Mukiele: 8/10
An absolute rock at the back while he was at centre half and then was up and down the line when he shifted the right, even though he was clearly tiring.
Luke O’Nien: 8/10
Looked comfortable, read the ball well to cut out attacks and used the ball well too, maybe a little conservative with his passing from what we usually see from him. Brilliant to see him score the winner in the shoot out.
Dennis Cirkin: 7/10
Gave Mundle plenty of support down the left wing and flashed one shot over late on. Had a relatively comfortable afternoon defensively.
Noah Sadiki: 8/10
Great to see him back and although he drifted in and out of the game but still showed his quality, using the ball well, winning it back and getting around the pitch.
Granit Xhaka (C): 8/10
Smashed his penalty home in the shoot out but thought he was good throughout, only real complaint was that he was a little too unselfish around the opposition box but still almost scored the winner when his shot was deflected just wide in the 119th minute.
Enzo Le Fee: 8/10
Rebounded brilliantly from the Brentford defeat, curled home a great volley to put us ahead and then was involved in almost all of our best attacking moments and to top it off he buried his penalty into the corner of the net.
Romaine Mundle: 8/10
His first start of the season and although he was erratic, he still caused the home sides plenty of problems. Kept testing Pickford after cutting inside and getting a shot off, sometimes overran the ball or was a bit greedy but the best we’ve seen of him since he returned.
Simon Adingra: 6/10
Put in a good shift down the right wing, even if he never looked comfortable on that side.
Eliezer Mayenda: 7/10
Did well up top, set up Le Fee for the opener and almost scored himself after being played in by Le Fee but steered his shot just wide.
Substitutes
Brian Brobbey: 6/10
Came off the bench and held the ball up well but looked visibly tired and had to go off.
Dan Ballard: 7/10
Came on at centre back with Mukiele going wide and did a good job.
Wilson Isidor: 6/10
Came on in extra time for Brobbey but didn’t look sharp at all, helped us get up the pitch often though.
Man of the Match: Robin Roefs
Thought there were some really good performances from the team today but Robin Roefs made himself the man of the match after saving every Everton penalty in the shoot out. Was typically calm throughout the game but made himself the match winner right at the death.
