Happy New Years to the entire Pride of Detroit community! You all have meant so much to my life over the past decade (and more) as I enter my 11th year as site runner. In that time, we’ve seen two coaching
changes, three playoff appearances, a near-miracle run to the Super Bowl, and endless heartbreaks and thrilling wins to boot. Some of my happiest moments of the past 10 years have been spent with y’all, whether it be in the comment section, The Feed (or FanPost section), during our PODcast live streams, or even meeting a bunch of you in person.
So instead of today’s Question of the Day focusing on football, let’s just focus on the humanity behind it. Each and every one of us—despite our differences in opinion—are alike in wanting to be a good person. And much like a football team, if you’re not actively trying to get better, you’re falling behind. So in the spirit of the new year, today’s Question of the Day is:
How will you try to self-improve in 2026?
My answer: I’ve got a rough draft of my 2026 resolutions, some of which I’m happy to share, some of which are more personal. But one of the resolutions I’m pretty energized about is trying to make at least 25 of the New York Times’ top 50 recipes in 2025. I’m hoping that expands some of my skills in the kitchen, builds a little more confidence in my ability to cook, and encourages me to stop using DoorDash and eat out less frequently. I got a head start on the resolution this week with this sheet pan sausage, gnocchi, peppers and onions, and I did not regret it.
Other goals this year include: buy a house, treat myself by planning a kick-ass 40th birthday party, and do at least one physical thing a day, no matter how long or intense.
Let’s hear how you plan to be a better person in 2026! Share your ideas in the comment section at the bottom of the page!
