Last week here at Rumblings, we wrote two articles on the potential of a Marvin Harrison Jr. trade for the Buffalo Bills, and now it’s time for an update.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowlerwrote the following in his Week 4 intel article at ESPN.com
“Teams are continuing to watch the Marvin Harrison Jr. situation closely, wondering if he would become available, as Dan pointed out last week. He would have a market, though not for a high pick (possibly a quality Day 3 pick, as one team forecasted). Harrison, the former
No. 4 overall pick who has struggled in Arizona, showed a slight uptick last week vs. San Francisco with three catches for 43 yards on five targets. But tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson are clearly the Cardinals’ primary options.”
Right now, the Bills don’t have a receiver issue. Not anywhere close to the issue a season ago — and for probably too long of a stretch in 2024.
However, I will write — I’m firmly in the “the Bills should be monitoring this situation closely” camp.
There have been no reports or even insider speculation regarding the Bills and Marvin Harrison Jr. to this point, yet we will continue to write about it here at Rumblings given Brandon Beane’s trading propensity, and the fact he nearly made a trade for a receiver AND a defensive tackle before last season’s trade deadline.
DJ Moore has been one of the toughest, most durable receivers in football since he entered the league in 2018. But Buffalo was very close to not having Moore or Keon Coleman a week ago against the Chargers. Both wideouts were dealing with injuries and played despite carrying questionable designations into the game last Sunday.
Harrison Jr. has four catches for 73 yards on nine targets through three games. Those nine targets currently rank fifth on the Cardinals offense.
Now that some trade compensation — a “quality Day 3 pick” — has been named does that change your thoughts on whether or not the Bills should pursue the polarizing young wide receiver?
