Eberl wants to keep Karl discourse behind closed doors (@iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has made it clear that he would prefer any disagreements or discussions surrounding Lennart Karl to be handled internally rather than played out in the media, responding to recent comments from Michael Ballack about the young Bayern Munich star.
Eberl was particularly critical of the decision to conduct these discussions publicly. While Eberl himself did address the situation publicly, his comments were tame and supportive, while Uli Hoeneß and Ballack
were a little more hard-edged.
“Honestly, I find it difficult when discussions or disputes like this are conducted through the media. We saw Lennart Karl as a tremendous talent last season, and he made fantastic progress. There was a reason he was among the nominees for the young player of the Year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London, which made us extremely happy,” said Eberl. “Then came the injury before the World Cup. That was a difficult period for him. Those of us working in football knew that a player’s development can sometimes experience a dip. It doesn’t always move in a straight upward trajectory. That was all we said. His performances against Freiburg and Magdeburg show that things are moving upwards again. He’s on the right track. I’m impressed by how this young man is now putting all of this behind him. That is essentially what I said on behalf of FC Bayern. That’s why I didn’t quite understand what Michael Ballack said, either in his capacity as an agent or as a pundit.”
Eberl’s message is clear — Bayern Munich has faith in Karl and is not interested in turning his development into a public controversy. The club recognizes that young players experience difficult periods, particularly after injuries, and believes Karl is already showing signs of getting back on track.
Rather than trading comments through the media, Eberl would clearly prefer everyone involved to keep these discussions behind closed doors and focus on what matters most: Karl’s continued development at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich stars Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, and Alphonso Davies were all named to Kicker’s Bundesliga Team of the Week:
A tale of thrown mustard that goes back decades (Casual Ultra Official)
A few Bayern Munich fans were hit by mustard bombs at the DFB-Pokal match vs. Magdeburg:
This opened Pandora’s box to a memory of mine from childhood. At around 11 or 12 years old, I was hanging out with my friends near the beginning of our development, which was off a main road. We were sitting on a railing over the top of a creek tunnel when all of a sudden, a guy with a very identifiable car —a gold Ford Mustang —tossed a cup of mustard at us (assuming this had to be from the local Roy Rogers), which hit the ground and sprayed up on my leg. No, this is not exactly the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan, but I wasn’t too pleased.
I knew who the guy was—he was at least 16 years old at the time (he was driving) and he lived about a mile away, or shorter if you cut through the woods. With a four- or five-year age difference at the time, I wasn’t looking to go hunt him down or anything, but I filed that away deep into my memory.
Fast forward 20 years later, and I am at a family gathering—and here is that punk, engaged to one of my second cousins. In my mind, I was Robert De Niro (minus the heater) in the bar scene in Goodfellas as “Sunshine of Your Love” by Cream played, deciding how I was going to take him out. In reality, I didn’t care, but I was going to make it a little awkward for him—a reasonable enough victory after so long.
Anyway, later in the night, I pulled up next to him and said, “You remember me from back in the day?” to which he replied, “I know you as [name redacted]’s cousin. Did you go to [school redacted]?”
After some pleasantries and talking about mutual friends or acquaintances, I lured him in and hit him with, “See, there was this one time I was hanging with [names redacted], and you drove by in your Mustang and threw mustard at us, and it hit me in the leg.”
He looked stunned and obviously had no memory of it (I’m sure I wasn’t the first or last drive-by mustard toss victim), which was really all I was going for. I wasn’t going to fight him over it, but I wanted to let him know I didn’t forget.
He ended up being a pretty cool guy, but part of me wants to drive by my second cousin’s house and hit him with a revenge cup of mustard. That would be justified, right?
Apparently, he can keep getting away with this (Opta Franz)
Niclas Füllkrug continues to terrorize the Bundesliga:
8 – Niclas Füllkrug is the first Bremen player since the founding of the Bundesliga to score in eight consecutive competitive matches.
In seven Bundesliga matches in a row, only Rudi Völler (1982/83) scored for Bremen before Füllkrug.
Seamless.
Playmobil’s version of Urbig getting trucked is something else (Andrés Weiss)
The Bundesliga’s Playmobil broadcast probably did not anticipate this kind of play happening, but it’s gold:
The goal disallowed for Borussia Dortmund, with Chukwuemeka’s hit on Urbig, in a PLAYMOBIL version is still even more surreal.
Here is a little more from Weiss:
Just in case you were curious, this is how the Bayern 1-0 win over Dortmund was experienced in the PLAYMOBIL world.
The fans’ reaction is what I like the most, I have to admit that to you.
Chiesa to Inter? (Fußball News journalist Ekrem Konur)
At some point, Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa just needs to go back to Italy and Inter Milan might want to be his next stop:
EXCL Italian winger Federico Chiesa is set for a Serie A return!
Liverpool have placed a €15M price tag on the forward, with Inter holding early talks to lead the race.
Goalkeeping by order of…(Football Tweet)
I have to admit, this is kind of cool:
