The Spurs won their fifth game in a row as they continue to prepare for the playoffs. Victor Wembanyama led all players with 39 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. He also shot 8 – 15 from beyond the arc, showing off his offensive versatility despite defenses keying in on him. De’Aaron Fox, himself, found some offensive rhythm with 25 points and dishing out 9 assists.
Poetry in motion that started with a Victor Wembanyama block and ended with a De’Aaron Fox paint penetration kick out to an open Devin
Vassell for the three. *Chef’s Kiss* You just cannot cook up a better dish than the one the Spurs just served where every player on the court does their part.
I wanted to amend this play call to “De’Aaron swiping the former GREAT Spur . . . for an easy deuce.” If that were me out there swiping my boy Derrick White, I’d have tears in my eyes while profusely apologizing because that’s my boy. You’re my boy, Derrick (tears).
Did Wembanyama just invent the scoop slam? Regardless, he managed to corral this alley oop from Fox and send it home for the flush. The chemistry between Wembanyama and his guards Fox and Stephon Castle are incredible. Having at least one player on the floor at any time to feed Wembanyama while he is roaming the floor is a luxury the Spurs have endlessly enjoyed this season.
This photo is great, particularly highlighting Dylan Harper wearing Celtic green shoes while Ron Harper Jr. is sporting Spur black kicks.
Thanksgiving at the Harpers must be fun:
“Hey Dylan, pass me the gravy.”
“Hey Ron Jr., do you even pass? Hehe”
(Ron Sr.) “You know who doesn’t ever pass, much less the gravy? Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Just kidding, he passes the gravy if you ask nicely. Just don’t ask him about the ‘traveling cocaine circus.’”
Shout out to Keldon Wilder Johnson, the first of his name, drainer of threes, energizer of teams, hustler on transition buckets, connoisseur of Vanessa Carlton, on becoming 6th all-time in three pointers made for the San Antonio Spurs. By the way, is there a much more apt middle name for KJ than Wilder? The man is a walking can of Red Bull dressed with smelling salts. I imagine KJ has more bounce and energy in his pinky finger than me on 6 cans of Red Bull and a teaspoon of smelling salts.
Flush.
If you missed the game because you were too busy counting all the way up to 83, here are the full-game highlights:
Next up, the Spurs host the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
