ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported that freshman center Eric Reibe is entering the transfer portal after one season with the Huskies.
Coming out of the Bullis School in Maryland as the No. 36-ranked recruit in the country by 247Sports, Reibe stepped up in a big way early in his freshman year while Tarris Reed Jr. was dealing with an injury. When Reed was healthy, Reibe’s minutes were minimal aside from instances of foul trouble.
Reibe made 40 appearances for UConn this past season, averaging 5.9 PPG and
3.3 RPG while shooting 66 percent from the field. He made five starts, notching 15 points in a loss to Arizona, a career-high 16 points in a win over Bryant, and 12 points with eight boards in the victory at Kansas. Aside from logging 11 minutes in the second round against UCLA, he saw seven minutes or less in the other five NCAA Tournament games.
Originally from Germany, Reibe will surely have lots of suitors across the college ranks. The big man showed strong poise and offensive finishing ability during his time as a Husky.
