With the Denver Broncos set to battle the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday, I felt it would be a good time to ask the Mile High Report staff a series of questions about the game. For the first installment, we discussed players we felt needed to step their game up a notch to help topple the Bills. Each and every answer was unique.
For my second question, I wanted to switch gears and asked the staff: “What concerns you most about the Broncos vs. Bills matchup?” And of course, there
was a consistent theme to most of the answers. A clear majority are most concerned about the Broncos defense having to come up with a way to defend and defeat Josh Allen.
Tim Lynch
Josh Allen lives off plays made by his running back and tight ends. Those are two areas the Broncos defense has struggled. They will need to contain James Cook and the passing game vs. him and the tight ends.
Ross Allen
Josh Allen is a big problem if he gets going. Hopefully he will still be moving a little slower after getting banged up against the Jaguars.
Adam Malnati
I don’t want to pile on here, so I won’t say Josh Allen, but I’m thinking it. So, let’s go a different direction and talk about Sean Payton’s tendency to get a little too cute with the play calling. When it works, it’s a lot of fun to watch, but when it doesn’t, it can lead to some awful outcomes.

There is no other real answer besides Josh Allen. He’s an absolute superstar at quarterback and one tough son of a gun. The guy is a winner and threatens every level of the field on any given play.
Christopher Hart
There is no doubt that going up against Josh Allen is extremely concerning. He is one of the best, if not the best quarterback in the National Football League. That being said, I feel confident in Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph and his defense being able to execute and limit Allen’s impact enough to help lead the Broncos to victory. Though I’ll go in a completely other direction on this one compared to the rest of the staff.
The biggest concern I have is the Broncos being their own worst enemy. Time and time again throughout the course of the season, they failed to hit their stride—especially on offense—because of self-inflicted wounds. Dropped passes were an issue most every week. The Broncos are near the top of the league in offensive penalties. They were Top 5 in the league to having the most three-and-outs.
You can’t win in the playoffs by beating yourself. Those mistakes have to be cleaned up. They’ve got an extra week of preparation in compared to the Bills, so I’m expecting them to play disciplined and fundamental football. Let’s see if they come ready to play.
