Tyson Fury, once again, is back.
One year after the heavyweight boxing great announced his retirement from competition, Fury is picking up the gloves and targeting a comeback in 2026.
See Fury’s Instagram announcement below.
The training footage, posted to Instagram, is accompanied by a caption that reads, “2026 is that year. Return of the mac. Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching. Nothing better to do than punch men in the face and get paid for it.”
Fury has retired
from boxing multiple times, first in 2013 when a pair of fights with David Haye fell through, and then most recently following a second straight loss to rival Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Between those announcements, Fury made three other retirement calls, including in 2017 after he and cousin Hughie became embroiled in a lengthy battle with UK Anti-Doping that coincided with Fury admitted he was dealing with personal issues and substance abuse.
The most likely opponent for Fury is fellow British star Anthony Joshua, who is coming off of a knockout win over Jake Paul. However, Joshua is currently dealing with a personal tragedy as he was recently involved in a car accident in Nigeria that resulted in the death of two of Joshua’s friends and coaching staff, and Joshua being injured.
Fury and Joshua have frequently taken shots at each other in interviews and on social media, but Fury was quick to offer his condolences to Joshua following the accident.
