Tim Kleindienst’s story is a special one.
The striker has an extensive career of playing through the German football leagues, spending the majority of his career in the 2. Bundesliga, as well as the German top
flight. However, Kleindienst has only improved with age and over the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, reached new heights. Kleindienst hit his highest goal tally in the Bundesliga last season with an impressive 16 goals last season with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
His performances were so impressive that Julian Nagelsmann not only called him up, and for a short moment, was his preferred striker for the national team. However, his story hasn’t been without its ups and downs. After reaching his pinnacle, he suffered a major injury setback last May, and has not been back to full health since.
Despite all this, the 6-time capped national team striker, is still positive in his recovery and is still hoping to head to the World Cup this summer.
It won’t be easy for Kleindienst though. In his absence, Woltemade has emerged as the clear favorite striker under Nagelsmann while Kai Havertz will soon be returning as a key player to Arsenal’s squad and inevitably the national team. To make matters worse for the Gladbach striker, Denis Undav is back in top form for VfB Stuttgart. Not to mention, Niclas Füllkrug has moved to AC Milan in order to position himself for a national team nomination.
At no fault of his own, it will be difficult for Kleindienst to find himself back in Nagelsmann’s squad by the time June rolls around. While it is not impossible, there is a large hill to climb. Nevertheless, when the German striker is healthy, there aren’t many strikers with his pure goal scoring ability. Hopefully for Germany and for Kleindienst, the striker is back on the field and fully fit soon.
