Real Madrid were back on the training ground on Sunday, beginning preparations for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Monaco following Saturday’s win over Levante at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Antonio Rüdiger and Rodrygo both worked away from the main group during the session, putting their availability for Tuesday night’s match in doubt. The pair’s condition will be reassessed after Monday’s training session, the final workout before the European encounter.
The positive news for Álvaro Arbeloa’s side is that the Levante match did not produce any fresh injury problems. Players who featured from the start on Saturday completed a recovery-focused session indoors, while the rest of the squad split their work between the gym and the pitch.
Regardless of Rüdiger and Rodrygo’s status, Real Madrid already know they will be without Éder Militão, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Ferland Mendy for the Monaco game.
Tuesday’s match, scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. kickoff, will be overseen by Norwegian referee Espen Eskås. Madrid have fond memories of their previous outings under Eskås, having won both matches he has officiated involving the club.
With squad depth set to be tested, Monday’s session will be crucial in determining how strong Madrid can be as they look to continue their European campaign on a positive note.
