Final day of practice availability for the media today on the Ponderosa, and the focus was on who was there and who was not. For the most part, the players you wanted to see involved were fully participating.
Lamar Brown was back at practice and was not limited during the individual portion of practice that we were allowed to view.
Also, Harlem Berry was back in action for the second practice in a row and was fully involved, not just limited to being on the bikes.
I spent most of my time watching the
QBs and WRs. On Thursday, Lane Kiffin spoke highly about the development and accuracy of Sam Leavitt, and it was on point today during the individual portions I was viewing. They ran routes at different levels of the field—short, intermediate, and deep—and every pass I saw him throw was completed and delivered in rhythm and in stride for the receivers.
There was one throw that stood out above all the others, and it was a deep sideline throw to Malik Elzy. If he had walked the ball down the field and handed it to him, it wouldn’t have been placed any better than that pass was. Also, Malik Elzy has really been making plays. Expect to see him get some opportunities as the season approaches.
Husan Longstreet seems to have the No. 2 QB spot on lock as of now. He looks comfortable, and his throwing has improved, especially with the placement of his passes. I would be comfortable if he had to step in for a drive or a quarter.
Another player who stood out to me was Dom McKinley. McKinley is really starting to make an impression, and this is the development that the defensive line room needed to see in order to feel confident about its depth. McKinley has improved his body language, he’s more active in practice, and he is getting more first-team reps as well.
Also worth mentioning: Deuce Geralds is the steal of the freshman class. This kid is going to be one of the best interior defensive linemen to walk onto LSU’s campus. He will have a huge impact on this defense.
This will be the final practice report of 2026, as classes start on Monday and media availability will only be open for press conferences.
How are you feeling about where the Tigers are now that we are just over 14 days away from Clemson?
